When is sunset in Durban?

Sunset in Durban moves by about two hours through the year: from about 17:03 in mid-June to about 19:01 in mid-January. Compare the time for your date with the sailings above — the cruise that is on the water at sunset is the one to choose. Clouds and weather change from day to day, so a clear sunset can never be promised.

Calculated for Wilson's Wharf (29.87° S, 31.02° E) with the standard sunrise and sunset formula, in South African Standard Time, rounded to the minute. Times on other days change gradually between these.

Before you go

Every cruise leaves from Wilson's Wharf, Victoria Embankment (Margaret Mncadi Ave), Durban Point Waterfront. Arrive at least 20 minutes before departure: each guest presents their own QR ticket, which is scanned at boarding. Online bookings need at least 24 hours' notice, so the booking calendar opens from tomorrow onward.

Decisions about safety are at the discretion of the skipper and the harbour authority, and where conditions require it a cruise may be shortened, delayed or re-routed for safety. If we cancel a cruise because of weather, safety, vessel availability or operational reasons, you may choose a reschedule to a suitable alternative date or a refund of the amounts paid for the affected cruise. Read the cancellation policy.

A private sunset event

Reserve the whole yacht for one, two, three or four hours, starting at one of the day's departure times, for up to 67 guests. It is priced for the whole yacht, never per person, at R12 000 an hour. The yacht must be completely free for the whole of your event, and the event must end by the time the day's last cruise returns. Read more about private yacht charter in Durban.
